MEET MATT
Matt George began his journey in the construction trade when he walked onto a jobsite in his former home of Washington State at the age of 16. It did not take long for Matt to realize that his calling was home building and perfecting the craft of challenging and complex builds. Matt worked tirelessly to learn the trade, both under the mentorship of tremendously skilled builders and in the classroom of a Construction Management program. Matt obtained his California State General Contractors License at the age of 25 and began his adventure as a small business owner.
Matt has proudly grown MG Custom Builders from a 2-3 man crew to a thriving construction firm with 12-15 employees, all of whom serve as an integral part of the business. Matt’s innate strengths such as multi-tasking, complex problem solving, effective communication, and steadfast integrity serve as incredible assets as a General Contractor. He thrives in complex, high stakes situations, and genuinely enjoys the intricate and muti-layered process of home building.
When he doesn’t have his nose buried in a set of plans, Matt loves hanging out with his family… in the ocean or lake, on the mountain bike trails, in the rock hounding caves, on the road, and exploring their new home base of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

MEET MARINA
Marina Hauze George is our on-staff land use consultant, ready to exercise her expertise to assist with your project. Marina graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of California San Diego with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning. Her senior thesis on the architecture and design of low-income housing was featured on the front page of the San Diego Union Tribune in 2006. After moving back to Santa Cruz and meeting her now husband Matt George, Marina worked for the City of Santa Cruz Planning Department, before moving into the private sector with former firm Hamilton Swift. During her time at Hamilton Swift, Marina absorbed all of the many nuances unique to the Santa Cruz County jurisdictions, and developed several valuable and lasting professional relationships. In 2011, Marina furthered her education and graduated from San Jose State University with a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
Marina took a short hiatus from the planning field to stay home with her and Matt’s two young kiddos, cultivating a thriving photography business in the process. Back in action as a land use consultant, Marina looks forward to discussing how she might be able to help move your project forward!
When she's not strategizing on how to further the success of a project, Marina loves hanging out with her family... on the beach, out in the fresh air and sun, on the workout mat, on an adventure, and in a doggy pile.
